Frugal Living this side of the world
By Darina • Aug 29th, 2008 • Category: Other Stuff !I was reading one of the blogs I like to dip into now and again Solutions for Busy Moms by Sarah Zeldman a fellow WAHM and Mommasterminderfrom New York. Sarah was reviewing a book about frugal living, money saving solutions and budget friendly meal planning etc..
I’ve seen tons of these types of books, reports, websites and blogs from the US. Sites with coupons you can print, money saving tips, sites for frugal moms, frugal wahms frugal kids you name it ! plenty of people seem to be making lots of money out of showing you how to save money !
and I started to think about similar sites for here. Money saving sites etc.. particularly ones aimed at mums and families. Letting you know where all the latest deals are, or giving you discounts you can print off and the only one I could come up with really was pigsback which I’ve actually been a member of for years but only recently started using again, competitions are good and you can also get some good supermarket vouchers.
With all this talk of (shh I’m going to mention that recession word) maybe this is time to see a few more spring up? or maybe I’ve just missed loads of them? I did come across a blog about eating well on €50 a week which was originally about shopping in lidl and it got quite a bit of publicity, was in the papers, even on the RTE news.
So tell me am I just missing them? or is there just not the same demand here for sites like this? Do we not need them? We hear talk all the time of rip off republic, and messages from the consumer association about shopping around etc.. so if anyone has or knows about any good websites which can help us share them here ! or if you’re a frugal WAHM and know all about how to save money don’t keep it to yourself ! let the rest of us know some of your secrets

That Lidl blog is getting loads of publicity, great dues to her. It just shows how if you tap into the right market at the right time, how the papers will give you free mentions and publicity.
absolutely, which is why I’m surprised I haven’t heard more recession crushing websites around !!
Nice article about you in today’s Indo, Darina. Well done.
all the best, Lorna
Thanks Lorna
