What would you spend €500 on? (for your business)
By Darina • May 11th, 2008 • Category: For WAHMsAs many of you know I’m a special advisor over at Mommasterminds and this week one of the other advisors and an online pal of mine Carrie Lauth posed a question.
If you had €500 (actually seeing as she’s in the US she said $500 but I’m sure she won’t mind me taking poetic licence here !) spare money and you want to use it to grow your business - not start any new projects just grow your existing ones - how would you use it?
I thought it was a great question and it got some really good responses. A lot of people said they would use it to outsource some of the work, particularly content related stuff for their websites, getting VA’s to add content or research etc.. some people said they would invest in advertising, others in software or equipment, quite a variety of responses. One person said she would use it to pay for a mothers helper so she could get more work done ! I thought that was a good one.
SO I thought I’d ask the same question here, if you had a spare €500 to invest in your business what would you use it for ? ok for me I think I would use it very carefully for advertising or promotion of some form. I haven’t spent much on advertising for the wahm site (for much read “nothing” !!) using instead tactics such as article marketing, good SEO, careful link exchanges etc.. and trying to get publicity where possible. but for the podcast I really think we need to do it a little differently, certainly quicker so I think I would consider some kind of advertising or promotion that maybe in form of literature or maybe some ppc. Or I may use it to outsource more than I do already so that I can concentrate on other things that I don’t outsource.. I’m also a bit of a software junkie so it’s possible that I could blow it on a few programs that I don’t actually need LOL but I’d try hard not to.
So how about you, any ideas?
I would split it between advertising (which I really need to do) and employing a VA to add content which would free up some much needed time.
But maybe the best thing to do with it is put it in the bank and let my bank manager see that I fully understand the concept of putting money into my account as much as taking it out

If I had €500 lying arround I would first get a website with Site Build It endorsed by Chris Malta. Then I would research a niche market and spend the rest on advertising my site. I spend (or should I say waste) alot of my time online searching and searching as Buzz would say (to infinity and beyond) lookind for the the perfect opportunity not a big fan of Zlio anymore its fun,free but if friends join its all about biggen each other up( sad person none of my friends share my interest)Great way to get feet wet building site though. Unfortunately can just about come scross €250.00 if any body would like to partner up post answer. Dosh might be low ideas unlimited.
If I have €500 to spare on my business, I would spend it on learning to market my business and up grading my site, it still needs lots of work done to it.
if i had €500 my biggest spend would be in getting somebody to do my bookwork done and maybe to try and get more orders for me. i hate doing my books and marketing both of which are my weaknesses.

If I had €500 lying around I would definitely be looking at ways to start up an at home business as a VA. I would probably spend a lot of time on the net looking for a web site that would show me how, or I could advertise to become an assistant VA for some person so that I could learn somethingabout this business
Well, firstly I’d be so happy to have 500 euros to play around with that I’d probably take forever to decide what to do with it! That said, I think as Darina mentioned, advertising and marketing would be top of the list, but a mother’s helper sounds good also, so I’d have to keep a bit aside for that. (Not that there would be any left if it was going to advertising!)
A good practice now and again is to step back from your business and day to day operations and reassess how you are doing/where you are going.
So how about going away to one of the many great hotel/spa breaks on offer now. Get new ideas while relaxing. Do your thinking & planning while relaxing and building new energy to move your body (freudian slip) I mean business forward.
You may still have some change to add new value to your business.
